Inspiration Boards

In my most recent IT lesson, we talked about the idea of "branding". To me its a name, design, symbol or any other feature that can identify a seller, product or company. For example, if I was to ask what you think of when I say coca-cola, it would be the signature white font and red can that fist comes to mind. brands are used in businesses, marketing, and advertising and include elements such as the name, logo, identity, and colours. a brand's identity is the visual element that makes us distinguish it from one another. going back to the example of coca-cola, they have a variety of drinks on offer however they will all show the signature logo, colour scheme, and typeface throughout the varying designs.

Personally, this is something that really interests me and I love looking deeper into the reasons why a company or brand will have a certain look or recognizable traits. It got me thinking about the brand/image I am trying to present through my blog and social media.

I thought that I would record the process of creating a "brand" and completing the first task I have been set: Creating a Logo!

I'm a sucker for a good mood board to help me explore all the different ideas I have and put it all into one visual space. So, to tackle this first task I produced 4 very different mood boards. They show a range of different aspects I could consider, including things such as a color scheme, what kind of content I want to share, what kind of lifestyle I want to present and finally to inspire me to be creative and then want to use that platform more.

This is the first mood board that I created, the inspiration came from my current lifestyle and look.
I recently have really enjoyed the minimalist look; Things being simple, clear and aesthetically pleasing. This is currently reflected through things such as my room decor and my fashion sense, therefore, making this style easy to maintain as its practically second nature to me.
I started to create this board by gathering images that I liked and that inspired me, for example, I chose the marble desk as I love the design and how professional it makes the image appear. The outfit on the left is also something that I would personally wear therefore representing my current style. I then looked at the color pallet I would work with for this design. As you can see there isn't a lot of options but that was a deliberate choice as keeping my work to those 3 colors will keep up the aesthetic and will be easy to maintain.

The theme of this mood board is simple however it does have a restriction on the amount of color I can introduce within my content. This is possibly something I can expand on in the future or I can take aspects I like from this mood board and incorporate it into my final design.

This is the second mood board I created and as you can see I took a very different approach to this one. I decided to go for a girly theme and add in some metal tones with the rose gold accents in the photos. I chose to create this board as it is very different from my personal style and I thought it would be interesting to explore something out of my comfort zone. Although the idea of creating makeup looks and having pink everywhere in my room is quite scary to me I do like the color pallet that I created with this board. The contrasting shades of pink work well together and could look very decorative.
The lifestyle I picture with these images is a "beauty gurus". Although that isn't me there are aspects of the board that I like, such as the metal tones and interesting colors that I could keep in mind for the future.

The third board I created was inspired by my favorite color (blue ... if you couldn't tell) and my love for the sea and the memories I have associated with it. I find all of these images aesthetically pleasing and I like matching two different shades of blue together. Although this "lifestyle" would be hard to maintain as I don't live by the sea, due to my love for it I will be more motivated to maintain this vibe. Sadly I can't think of many blog posts that I can include pictures of water with however I can take inspiration from this to try and link my work to something that makes me happy and that I am enthusiastic about.

Then finally this is the last mood board I created! I got the inspiration for this one from current trends that I have seen on social media and fashion I have seen around college. I think the orange color is really edgy and it gives off a happy summer vibe. although it would be a challenge to maintain this look as I usually don't go for such vibrant colors I think the aesthetic is really cool and is something I would love to be able to pull off. Also from the pictures I have selected I like how lighting has been incorporated in a lot of the photos. I think that is a great way to make things look and feel more professional. Something I can take from this mood board is to try and keep my look personalized but also trendy to try and widen my audience.
