London Fashion Week 2019

Excited as i was to start college I could not have imagined just how good it was going to be, when on my first day of college i got offered to attend London Fashion Week with a few other students to assist the designers as a dresser. I knew from the moment I was asked that is was an opportunity I couldn't turn down and i am delighted i got to experience the manic, busy and captivating environment backstage of a fashion show.

For me this trip was a major eye opener into the fashion industry. I have always loved and wanted to work in the textiles/fashion industry but with such a large variety of skills you can specialise in I am clueless on what I want to focus on. This was my first taste of the industry with college and wow, were we thrown in at the deep end. There is so much that goes on behind the scene: Makeup, hair, fittings, quick changes, lots and lots of organising ! As a dresser i was responsible for the hectic quick changes and the fittings in the morning. It was a lot of information to take in but i wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

My favourite part of the entire day was seeing the garments close up and meeting the designers. The intricacy in each garment was inspiring. I loved being able to witness these garments being walked down the runway and the sense of relief and pride I could see on each designers face. Who knows, maybe that will be me in the future! I defiantly got inspiration for my own designs and learnt so much during the course of the day.

Im so grateful for this opportunity and will never forget the amazing team and models we worked with !

Me, Lou and Chloe proving that no matter how busy we claim to be there is always time for a quick mirror selfie!
